together. AR Collector is responsible for performing complex or
specialized AR collection functions by interfacing with various
departments, insurance carriers, patients and providers while
ensuring good patient and provider relations. Serves as patient
advocate to help resolve problems pertaining to patient statements
as well as any other issues that may arise. This position is full
time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to
work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business
hours of 7am - 6pm PST. It may be necessary, given the business
need, to work occasional overtime. Employees are required to work
on-site once a week. We offer weeks of paid training. The hours
during training will be 7am to 3:30pm PST, Monday - Friday.
Training will be conducted onsite. If you are within commutable
distance to the office at 19191 S Vermont Avenue Torrance, CA, you
will have the flexibility to work from home and the office in this
hybrid role* as you take on some tough challenges. Primary
Responsibilities: - Consistently exhibits behavior and
communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to
superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with
each and every internal and external customer - Documents calls as
clearly and precisely at the time of call - Maintains department
productivity standards: 56 accounts daily and monthly quality
audits of 95% accuracy - Performs collection activities on assigned
work files according to department procedures - Maintains proper
aging of accounts receivable - Performs precise audits of patient
accounts to ensure accuracy of charges, payments and adjustments -
Monitors payments to ensure payers conform to agreed fee schedules.
Contacts patients and insurance carriers regarding delinquent
accounts - Demonstrates special ability in dealing with patients
regarding sensitive financial matters and recapturing unpaid
balances - Negotiates payment plans - Identifies delinquent
accounts for assignment to outside collection agencies - Uses,
protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health
information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards - Performs
additional duties as assigned You’ll be rewarded and recognized for

in. Required Qualifications: - High School Diploma / GED - Must be
18 years of age OR older - 1 years of current professional medical
collection experience - Experience with CPT/ICD-10 coding -
Knowledge of HCFA requirements - Working knowledge of contracted
insurance plans - Working knowledge of current state and federal
laws governing collections - Proficiency with Microsoft Office to
include Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word,
Teams - Ability to work on-site once a week - Ability to work any
of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of
7am - 6pm PST, Monday – Friday Preferred Qualifications: -
Knowledge of California industrial fee schedule billing
requirements - Knowledge of clearing houses and HealthPlan portals
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish Telecommuting
Requirements: - Reside within commutable distance to the office at
19191 S Vermont Avenue Torrance, CA - Ability to keep all company
sensitive documents secure (if applicable) - Required to have a
dedicated work area established that is separated from other living
areas and provides information privacy - Must live in a location

role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local
labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
