Job Description Job Description Overview The Team Leader assists
with clinical supervision of patient care and job performance
supervision of all employees on an assigned shift. They plan,
coordinates and provides for optimum patient care on the unit. The
Team Leader performs professional nursing services for patients
with a variety of needs utilizing the nursing process and within
the scope, ethics, and standards of practice as defined by the
American Nurses Association and the California BRN Nurse Practice
Act. The Team Leader will ensure the clinical competence of the
nursing staff and fostering delivery of evidence-based practice, in
alignment with the Standards for Nursing Professional Development
Practice and Professional Performance. The ideal candidate will
have knowledge and comply with Title 22, OSHA, and Joint
Commissions standards, delegate appropriately to members of the
patient care team, provide leadership and supervision to assigned
staff, assess patient care data, and formulate appropriate nursing
diagnoses. Supervise or carry out clinical skills related to
pediatric, bum, orthopedic, and rehabilitation nursing. Interact
effectively and sensitively with children of different age levels
and cultural backgrounds and with their families. Practice standard
precautions, and communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Adapt to changing patient care environment, including unscheduled
admissions and emergency situations. Perform other duties as
assigned within scope of licensure. Have knowledge of Quality
Assurance and Performance Improvement processes. This position is
full time, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, non-exempt and benefits
eligible. The pay range for this position is $56.86 - $85.28/hour.
Compensation is based on years of experience and departmental
equity. Responsibilities Delivers a high level of care through the
utilization of scientific knowledge and professional judgment when
assessing, intervening and reassessing a patient's physiological
and psychosocial needs. Establishes an individualized,
comprehensive and measurable plan of care based upon knowledge of
growth and development, pathophysiology, surgical interventions,
psychosocial needs, physician prescribed therapies, and standards
of care. Performs nursing skills safely, accurately, and
efficiently, as defined in Policies & Procedures and in accordance
with Evidenced Based Practice and within the scope of licensure.
Demonstrates open, accurate and timely communication with team
members, patients and families, interdisciplinary team members, and
between departments to ensure effective therapeutic interventions.
Maintains competency, adheres to standards of practice, and
recognizes own learning needs to maximize professional development
and optimal nursing practice. Ensures patient care is delivered and
the unit is maintained in accordance with professional regulatory
standards and SHC policy. In coordination with the Nurse Manager,
supervises all staff on shift, including Registered Nurses,
Licensed Vocational Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, Medical
Assistants, and Health Unit Coordinators. Applies excellent
communication and teamwork skills to maintain successful working
relationships with team members. Listens effectively. Builds
appropriate rapport. Uses diplomacy and tact. Identifies the number
and level of personnel needed to provide patient care and adjusts
staffing and assignments appropriately, based on CA ratio
requirements, patient acuity, skill mix, and patient mix. Exercises
independent judgments in making patient assignments and adjusts
these assignments based on the competencies of the healthcare
professional, patient acuity, continuity, and environmental
factors. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s

related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing RN license
in CA ACLS PALS (required within 6 month of hire) BLS CNOR
(Required within 6 months of hire) 2 years of Registered Nurse
experience Preferred: 1 year of leadership experience 1 years of
nursing education experience
