Learn more about types of zoo and aquarium jobs and relevant education programs in our career center .Director of Human Resources and Volunteer ServicesThis position provides leadership and direction for the human resources, diversity & inclusion, training, and volunteer programs for the Minnesota Zoological Garden so that the agency attracts, develops, and retains quality employees and volunteers in support of the Zoo's mission to connect people, animals, and the natural world to save wildlife. The position provides expert consultation to management on the human resource implications of proposed actions; develops and implements human resource, training, diversity, and volunteer programs and policies; and serves on the management team providing leadership in achieving the Minnesota Zoo's strategic priorities. The position ensures that all human resource activities comply with state and federal laws and rules, administrative procedures and collective bargaining agreements and participates in bargaining as defined in M.S. 13.37, subdivision 1C.Experience RequiredFour (4) years of experience managing or supervising Human Resources functions and professional staff in a complex organization sufficient to direct and motivate staff, provide leadership to committees, and manage projects.Experience in Human Resources must include a broad range of functional areas such as: Developing HR policies and directing HR programs; Employment and labor law; and administering collective bargaining agreements; Talent acquisition and management; Classification/job analysis; Compensation; HRIS transactions; Workers' Compensation; Employee training and development; Providing management consultation on a variety of complex HR issues such as performance management.Ability to receive and maintain delegation of authority from Minnesota Management & Budget for HR work in compensation, classification, selection, and labor relations.Ability to work with stakeholders to accurately identify needs and effectively communicate to address needs and establish rapport.Ability to set an organizational tone of continuous improvement and foster an environment that adheres to high ethical and professional standards.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access with demonstrated experience engaging diverse communities and underserved audiences.
