Job Description

Underground Pipeline Company seeking seasoned Estimator to bid public and private works. Bids include but not limited to: underground utilities, wet and dry utilities.

?Reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and, prepares itemized lists

?Computing cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or

subcontractors and determining cost

?Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions

?Consulting with management, vendors and other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues

?Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates

?Organizing and managing a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized

?Analyzing completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs to determine the reason for an discrepancies

?Providing improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs

?Identifying cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts

Responsibilities:

?Check bid source files to ensure latest information available prior to bid day

?Generate RFI?s necessary to establish competitive baseline

?Attend job walks to establish and build relationships/acquire necessary information

?Review project bid documents

?Perform Material take-offs and mathematical calculations accurately

?Determine type of materials, equipment, labor and subcontractors required

?Interface with vendors and subcontractors for relevant information/quotations

?Identify potential risks, opportunities, and alternative solutions

?Track and record bid results for continuous improvement and history tracking
